I've always managed to find myself in the most difficult situations when it comes to finding the ideal foundation. I have extremely oily, acne prone skin that just seems to flare up when that time of the month rolls arounds, so finding a foundation that really helps provide a decent amount of coverage without aggravating my acne is a damn right struggle. With this being said you can honestly understand or even relate to my excitement when I was introduced to the NYX Cosmetics 'Stay Matte but Never Flat' liquid foundation. Not only do I feel like this product gives me the right amount of coverage, when set with powder and then the setting spray of your choice (I generally reach for my MAC Fix +), this foundation lasts for hours on end.
This little tube of goodness has an oil free water base formula which does exactly what is promised in the title, it keeps your face matte yet not looking cakey for almost the entire day with minimal touch ups. I just apply a small amount of this product to either the back of my hand or even a clean mixing palette and then begin to apply it to my primed face using a foundation brush at first, and then really pushing the product into my skin using a damp makeup sponge (I generally swap between a beautyblender and The Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge) which leaves my face looking so beautifully matte and even. The only snag I find with this product actually has nothing to do with the formula itself but rather it's packaging. I just wish they had settled for a pump applicator rather than a screw on/off cap, I personally find it a bit tedious having to always screw off and on the cap whilst trying to apply the product.
But either than that extremely minor detail, I highly recommend this product to anyone looking for an oil free matte finish foundation. A full size version of this product (35ml) retails for R140 (roughly around $10) which is insanely affordable for such an amazing drugstore product.
